5 Stars I am absolutey thrilled with my new Bravia. The only problem was with shipping.
I am absolutey thrilled with my new Bravia. Hookups were no problem and the picture is great. The only real problem I had was with shipping. When the T.V. arrived at the local terminal they did not contact me for delivery. I had to track the shipping number and locate the television. Then I had to contact the freight company directly to arrange final delivery. This amounted to 1 extra week that my product was delayed while sitting at the trucking terminal. Other than that the price and product is outstanding.
5 Stars good picture & good remote
I bought this TV based on the Amazon.com recommenders. It was easy to set up if you ignore the fact we are elderly, and it was hard to lift to the cabinet it stands on. It found the channels perfectly. It has a clear instruction manual. Best of all, the remote is clearly set out and has buttons of different sizes according to function. The labels on the remote are readable. The picture is far better than the picture on the Vizio we bought a couple of months ago. We don’t yet know how durable it is because it is new.
I did not look into the “white glove” delivery some reviewers mentioned because we live on an island, and sometimes it takes months even to get a repair person. (Don’t even get me started on Sears.) We decided to order from Amazon.com because the nearest store was a 120 mile round trip from the mainland ferry landing which would add at least $30 to the cost of the computer and take a whole day whereas this computer was said to have free shipping. We estimated that the TV would arrive on a Wednesday. On that Wednesday we received a phone call from an air freight service in the southern part of the state. They had our TV and did not deliver to islands. What should they do with it? We managed to work out a compromise where the TV would be delivered to my husband waiting at the ferry terminal on the mainland side “after lunch” two days hence. I shoveled out the back of the pick up truck twice because of a snow storm. My husband went over on the last morning boat (9:30 AM) and waited for lunch time. The first afternoon boat was at 1:00. At one point in his cell phone communication with the delivery man, my husband was told the delivery might not get there in time for the 2:00 boat. My husband let him know in no uncertain terms that he had left the house at 8 AM and the next boat after the 2:00 would be at 4:00. He might have mentioned what the delivery person could do with the TV. The delivery man, whose fault the whole fiasco WAS NOT, kindly changed the order of the deliveries and even managed to get my husband on the 1:00 boat. My elderly husband had to help the delivery person put the 76 pound TV on our pickup, but we both had to unload at this end. It ended up costing us $13.00 and a lot of aggravation and fatigue for this “free” delivery.
This whole tale is to let you know that this item is not sent by FedEx or UPS which deliver to our door. Whether or not this delivery goes smoothly depends very much on where you live. A little research might have let me discover what sized objects are too big for ordinary delivery. Be warned.
5 Stars This TV is amazing!
I always bought Sony TVs. I also own a Sony Projector - 1080p. The picture that I have seen on this TV is by far the sharpest. It TV is quiet, the picture is crisp, and menu very intuitive. It is light weight and I could easily hang it up the wall my self! Best of all, my wife loved it!
3 Stars Oh, If Only….
I sit looking next to my 46V4100 which is about to go back to Amazon.
It’s a good TV, a VERY GOOD TV.
But it’s not a great TV.
If you are primarily a gamer, get this set. I played 360 on it and loved it. Smooth motion and bright, vibrant colors even after using custom settings [use the W4100 settings on avsforum]
If you watch mostly HDTV over the air, on cable or via satellite get this set. It handles HD very well though the ultimate quality will be driven by the source material. Sharp picture, good colors and solid black performance.
If you watch sports in HD, get this set- it’s your best bang for the buck. I watched baseball and basketball and both looked incredible.
If you watch SD, get this set and watch your programs in pillarbox mode- the TV can only do so much with 480 lines blown up to fit in a 1080 line space. I have a 3 year old Panny 720p plasma that handles SD be3teer than this TV, but I expected that.
If you want to build a home theater- that’s the rub. The TV I got has uneven backlighting which makes dark screens look like they have small areas of cloudiness. I see it on credits screens and other dark screens [like transitions to breaks, fade outs] and when I do it drives me crazy.
Any other time, I’m ecstatic with this television. It’s a really solid performer and if it wasn’t for the backlight issue - an issue I wouldn’t notice most of the time I watch the TV - I’d gladly give it a 5 star review.
It’s that good, and I’m still that torn about my decision to return the KDL-46V4100.
5 Stars Excellent quality at a good price
I bought this TV off Amazon after a great deal of research in store and online. This television lives up to my expectations providing very good picture quality even in action sequences and while watching sports. I compared to many 120Hz models and could not find any perceptible difference with this 60Hz tv. The W and Z series pictures looked exactly the same, so did not spend more just to get the latest. The TV is quite easy to install and the free shipping from Amazon was awesome … they brought the tv in and hooked it up for us! Overall a great buy.
