1 Stars Very Disappointed!
I bought this tv from amazon at the sale price last week of 1199, with free shipping. that part of it was great. I ordered on Monday, and it was delivered by Friday! I was so excited to have this tv over the weekend. But no more than an hour ago (1 day of Owning it!) the screen went blank and there are 3 yellow blinking lights that repeat (its still doing it now!) The TV will not turn back on. This lead me to research what I can on the web for others with the same experience. If you google “Toshiba TV 3 yellow blinking lights” you get some stories that are similar to my experience. I cant say that I will never buy another toshiba product, but I will definitely second guess it now. I am in the process of seeing if I can get Amazon to take the TV back. Otherwise, I will go to the Credit Card Company.

Good luck to all in your search for the perfect TV’s!

5 Stars Overall, stunning value and quality for the price. For the budget-minded quality seeker, this Toshiba is truly a steal.
I followed this television model online for some time as it fell into my price range. Of note, I have owned a Toshiba CRT 36-inch now for 15 years, a TV of excellent quality, so I was curious if the Regza 52RV535U LCD was of the same caliber.

My research revealed (i) its 46-inch sibling was rated as “Highly Recommended” by this winter’s Consumer Reports “The Best Televisions” edition, and (ii) its 42-inch sibling was also very highly rated by HDTV Solutions web site television reviews at [..]. I recommend this article to anyone who wants to learn more about fine-tuning/picture calibration, and it explains how the Toshiba’s picture achieved a 4.5 out of 5 rating. I took a gamble that these positive reviews were true for the whole RV535U series, and purchased the 52″.

First, let me point out how professional and thoughtful the folks at the delivery service CEVA were. These gents truly deserve good mention, and had a lot of patience with my buildings’ many delivery rules. They took great care to set up the TV and ensure it worked. I made sure to tip them well for their efforts.

Next, the picture from HD sources is simply stunning. I agree with the HDTV Solutions article that the automatic picture settings are quite good but a bit conservative. Yet they are highly accurate with color and right out of the box I was impressed. After some calibration using the “HD Basics” blu-ray disk, I ended up with a fantastic image set as “Preference” mode. The Blu-ray movies I have watched since have been utterly breath-taking and rival my neighbor’s 52-inch Sony Bravia XBR (which admittedly has slightly deeper blacks and minor high-speed motion improvement…for $1800 more than I paid for the Toshiba).

The standard DVDs have also shown exceptionally well, although admittedly my Samsung Blu-ray P1500 upcoverts the DVD signal, so I cannot attest to Toshiba’s SRT/Superior Resolution Technology’s effectiveness with DVDs, but it appears to do reasonably well with the standard TV programming.

The sound quality is acceptable and I found it to be noticeably better than the Samsung LN52A550 52-Inch that I looked at and considered in late 2008. Still, as with most flat panel televisions I considered, I would recommend using a surround sound system with the Toshiba if you are in a large room or sit far from the speakers.

Of note, the Toshiba Regza link, which is the interface that allows the Toshiba remote to control other applications or hardware, works flawlessly with the Samsung Blu-ray.

Overall, stunning value and quality for the price. I am still amazed at how great Blu-ray movies look on this TV. And many more of my friends are now interested in coming over on Sundays for “Movie & A Bite Night” at my place. For the budget-minded quality seeker, the Toshiba is truly a steal.

5 Stars Great Value - Great Set
I shopped Toshiba Regza sets extensively and this was by far the best price I found. In fact I got this 52″ set for the same price as a 46″ at a local members-only club (and even less due to local tax and delivery charges). I’d also like to add that my experience with Amazon and the company they used for shipping, delivery, and set-up was positive.

I have not as yet subscribed to HDTV service from my satellite provider but I am extremely pleased with the picture quality and sound as is. I found the menues easy to learn and use. I appreciate the number of options provided.

I am already recommending the set to friends.

5 Stars Super deal!
I have had this for about a week and for $1199 it is a bargain. HD looks awsome. Only two small issues so far. HDMI port 2 would recognize my XBOX360 cable but did recognize the one from my DirecTV receiver (could be the cable but 1 & 3 recognized it) and is a little blurry when panning in games but I knew the 60hz would do that. Sound is better than expected, as mentioned in another review, remote could be better. Overall, I love this tv so far. Can’t wait to add blu-ray player which should be here by the end of the week. The prime shipping was great, they brought it in, unpacked it and plugged it up.

4 Stars Great HD picture
Got mine about a week ago. TV has great HD picture. Standard def seems a little soft but that could be my crappie cable. Looks great on my PS3. Set is classy looking. Most people using a set like this have a surround system so sound is not that big of a concern. You will need to calibrate the set for color and such. $20 DVD. Remote does not control audio receiver volume. The delivery is so so. Free is great, but it says that they will deliver it into your home and unpack it. The freight company only sent one person so I had to help him. No big deal but could be for some. The shipping label did say two-person delivery. May just be the local freight company.
