| The revolutionary new LED system available on Samsung DLP HDTVs offers better color, and energy efficiency. |
LED (Light Emitting Diode) for modern color realization
Samsung’s new LED light engine replaces the arc lamp & color wheel design of previous DLP HDTVs, and realizes beautiful color. LED will last the life of the TV. Samsung LED DLP TVs eliminate the need to replace the consumable lamps every few years, and thus have less impact on the environment and on one’s wallet. Samsung’s LED light engine makes possible an Ultra-Wide Color Gamut that exceeds the NTSC defined color space spec for richer color than you’ve seen before on TV. Samsung DLP HDTVs with an LED engine are more energy efficient than similar sized flat panel displays, and the lack of a moving color whell in the design means they perform with less noise than any previous DLP HDTV design.

| Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine create’s images with a smoother, more film-like appearance. |
Cinema Smooth Light Engine
Samsung is the worldwide leader in creating light engines that harness DLP HDTV technology from Texas Instruments. Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine brings together the right optics, electronic circuitry and replaceable light source to create a brilliant picture that’s more lifelike and much closer to film. Now in its sixth year of evolution, Samsung’s Cinema Smooth light engine delivers crisp, 1080p High Definition resolution with high contrast and brightness, defined edges and sharp detail.
Next Generation DLP Chips from Texas Instruments
Samsung employs a Texas Instruments DLP chip that is comprised of millions of microscopic mirrors. The DLP chip is faster than any other HDTV technology, with the mirrors switching on & off 15,000 times a second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast moving images. When combined with Samsung’s new Cinema Smooth light engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that’s closer to film.

5 Stars Only one flaw - Optical audio out does not convert HDMI audio in
I love this TV. I have had it for about a year and a half, and have had zero problems with it. The picture is crystal clear, and the LED bulb is the way to go. No sound comes out of it, and it has an amazing setup of input/outputs. I won’t go into detail because everyone else has already, and they are right. My only problem with this TV was something that I didn’t run into until a year down the road, when I was setting up an audio system. It seems that on this model, the optical audio out does not convert the high definition aduio that is coming in from any of the HDMI ports. It will only convert an analog signal. This, to me, is pointless, but customer support told me that this was changed in the 2008 model, which would make the 2008 model 100% perfect, in my book. Still, it’s not a very huge issue, and is only a problem because of my Xbox360, which will not split the signal like the PS3. Oh well. In all, this TV is absolutely amazing, and everyone who sees it says the same. If I had to, I would buy it again.
5 Stars Best bang for the buck out there!
I own an LCD, a plasma, and this Samsung DLP. I prefer the picture of the Samsung by far. It’s not overly bright like the LCD, and has much better clarity than the plasma. Even at a whopping 61″, the picture is perfect- no screen door effect, rainbow effect, or any of the other typical DLP issues I read about for months before my purchase. Even sitting at a fairly wide viewing angle I get a great picture with no noticeable falloff. To me, the picture is the closest thing to a movie experience, which I love. The blacks are deep and the colors are well-saturated. I paid over $400 more just a year ago, it’s a heck of a bargain now. I was torn between this one and a comparable Sony (can’t remember which model exactly, but price was nearly identical) and I’m glad I chose the Samsung. So far, one year after my purchase, I’ve had no problems whatsoever.
5 Stars Mine “bit the dust”
I absolutely loved my 61″ Samsung! Without a doubt, the best I have owned. However, all good things must end…Mine bit the dust after 10 months of use. First, we lost all red color…then something else went. The good thing about it is that it was still under warranty. We had the local Samsung warranty repair shop take a look at it and they found three defective parts, two of them were in stock. The 3rd pard needed to be ordered. After tree weeks without any communication, we finally found out that there was a backorder for the part we were waiting for. After 6 weeks, I finally called Samsung direct and got someone in the executive department and they were stunned that I had been without the TV for so long. Now, however, we have been informed that Samsung is no longer producing the DLP models and the shortage of parts was key. I have not heard this (discontuing the DLP) from any other source and was skeptical initially. But, because they are replacing the DLP with a highend 52″ LCD, I am beginning to wonder.
Again, the 61″ DLP was a beautiful TV with an abundance of positives. My only negative is that I didn’t have it long enough. I sure hope all the other posters of the 61″ have a long-life TV and that you don’t need parts too soon.
5 Stars After 1 Year - Still LOVE this TV!!
Can’t say enough good about this TV - Out of the box plugged in and the picture is perfect! After a year of living with it I would recommend a Sammy to anyone.
Both of my good friends bought $3000 LCD tv’s and I think there is no comparison.
If you can find this model on clearence BUY IT! - or the A750 version that replaced this one should even be a bit better (hard to believe)
5 Stars GREAT TV
GREAT DELIVERY SERVICE. IT WAS BROUGHT INTO MY HOME AND UNPACKED BEFORE THE FREIGHT COMPANY LEFT. THE TV IS ALL THAT I EXPECTED.
