Once again, Sharp, a leader in LCD technology, establishes a new design standard for LCD TVs. With a screen size class of 52″, the AQUOS LC-52D64U raises the bar by fitting large screen sizes into incredibly small footprints. By changing the layout of circuits inside the LCD panel and by reducing the number of parts, Sharp engineers developed the Slim-line design, which reduces depth by 25%, allowing placement of the LC-52D64U in virtually any setting. The LC-52D64U utilizes Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology and 4ms response time. The LC-52D64U features built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners and includes 3 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, compatible with 1080p signals, a PC input and 2 HD component video inputs. Side terminals are included for wall-mounting convenience as well as RS-232C input for control.

This is the best TV I’ve ever seen. The picture is so sharp and clear that the Sony 50″ HD projection TV I’ve had for two years seems almost like “regular TV” by comparison. The Sony only had one HDMI input which meant that my PS3 and my satellite service couldn’t both be connected at the highest quality at the same time. The Aquos has lots of inputs and is much more flexible. I love it!
1 Stars NO SOUND
I was so excited to get my new TV. Had everything setup. Set the TV to scan for all available channels. The process of removing channels was horrible. Unlike Sony where you just click add/delete in this Sharp TV you have to go through the menu and delete each channel. Hate it. Then I get to a few channels where I can see the picture perfectly, but I can’t hear anything. That’s strange because all the other brand TV at home can get those channels with sound perfectly even Vizio the brand I hate with its poor quality picture and a control that only works if you angle it towards the far right. What gives. Sharp is suppose to be a better brand. They need to work on their digital tuner especially the sound. I contact Sharp but have not heard back from them yet.
1 Stars Dark bands across the screen
I bought the LC-52D64U in November of 2008. The first problem that occured (within the first 2 weeks)was a vertical line of “dead pixels” running the entire screen. It looked like a single line of black or “unpowered” pixels. The tv was serviced & that problem has not yet reoccured. A few weeks after the “dead pixel” issue, a new problem showed up; faint dark bands running horizontally across the display. The bands were approx 2″ wide. There were three bands, one near the top, one near the middle of the display & the other at the bottom. The band at the top was the most noticeable. The bands showed up regardless of the source of the image. DVDs, VHS tapes, & Satellite feeds all displayed the bands. Another service tech came & fixed the problem. Now after 9-10 months the problem has reoccured with these bands. The tv is now out of warranty & the problem is all mine. After having all of these problems, I can safely say I will NEVER BUY a SHARP PRODUCT again.
3 Stars Works fantastic… most of the time…
I have had this TV for 4 weeks… and I have an appointment to have it worked on already. Regardless of the input selection, the screen will randomly blank out for 1-2 seconds. I’m not the only one with this problem, make sure you do your homework first before buying this TV.
UPDATE - Sharp is replacing my TV after the repair did not solve the problem of the random picture loss. Awaiting a new one…
4 Stars HD channels great picture
HD channels and DVD movies come in great. Picture not so great for non-HD channels. May be typical of all new flatscreen TVs’. Light, easy set up.
